Our guides are Selong locals, coming from nearby villages and have been surfing these breaks since the sport reached Lombok. Our boat crew come from fishing families who have worked these waters for generations. Our warung partners and Sasak village hosts are our neighbours.

Head Guide · Founder

Hendra

One of the original crew who built the surf scene at Selong Belanak. Hendra has been surfing and instructing for over 25 years and is the driving force behind Selong Surf Safari. Beyond the waves, he's passionate about Sasak culture, local craft, drawing and sharing the real Lombok with every visitor who comes through.

Surf & Fishing Guide

Lanu

Hendra's brother — so alike that guests often mistake them for twins. Lanu is an experienced surf instructor with a second life as a fisherman, heading out most nights to work the local waters. He also shoots surf photos along the beach, combining two of his great passions in one session.

Surf Instructor

Doyok

A passionate surfer and instructor with over 10 years in the water at Selong. Doyok has a gift for getting beginners onto their first wave and loves that moment when it all clicks. Originally from Serangan — a few beaches over, home to one of South Lombok's best reef breaks for intermediate and advanced surfers.

Surf Photographer

Parlin

Selong's resident surf photographer. Parlin is obsessed with capturing the perfect moment — your first wave, a clean turn, or the wipeout you'll be laughing about for years. For serious surfers who want coverage at Mawi or Serangan, he'll travel to the break and shoot the full session.
